President Mohamed Muizzu on Monday said that China has been a steadfast partner in the development journey of the Maldives.
The president made these remarks while speaking at the reception to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of China.
He emphasised that the landmark China-Maldives Friendship Bridge and many other housing and other infrastructure projects are shining symbols of this enduring partnership.
In his speech, the president extended felicitations to the leadership and citizens of China on the occasion, emphasising their unwavering spirit, endurance, and perseverance.
He noted China's position as a powerful force in the global economy, achieved through dedication and hard work.
President Muizzu highlighted the strong relationship between the Maldives and China, emphasising trust, mutual respect, and a commitment to principles of sovereignty, non-interference, peace, and sustainable development.
He also mentioned greater cooperation in trade, tourism, agriculture, fisheries, renewable energy, cultural exchange, housing, climate change and infrastructure development.
The president expressed his confidence for the continued strengthening of the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations.
The National Day of China commemorates the establishment of China in 1949.
