Maldives-China ties on respect, close cooperation, president says

President Muizzu extended his felicitations to Chinese leaders on the occasion of Spring Festival and Chinese New Year.

President Mohamed Muizzu on Wednesday emphasised the importance of strengthening the partnership for the mutual benefit of both nations.

President Muizzu extended his felicitations to Chinese President Xi Jinping, and the Premier of the State Council of China, Li Qiang, on the occasion of Spring Festival and Chinese New Year.

In separate letters to the leaders, the president extended heartfelt greetings and best wishes from the government and the people of the Maldives to the leadership and citizens of China on this joyous occasion. He reaffirmed the Maldives' commitment to the One-China Principle and emphasised the importance of strengthening the partnership for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Additionally, he highlighted the significance of consolidating the China-Maldives Comprehensive Strategic Cooperative Partnership to ensure the continued flourishing of the close ties between the two countries.

President Muizzu further extended best wishes for the good health and wellbeing of the president and premier, as well as the continued prosperity and progress of the people of China.

The Maldives and China established diplomatic relations on 14th October 1972.

The president also shared a message on his official 'X' account to mark Spring Festival and Chinese New Year.
