National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) has confirmed that Aasandha services will remain available for individuals who must pay out of pocket due to the suspension of cashless services by private insurance providers.

The announcement comes following changes that affected the delivery of Aasandha benefits to patients using private insurance.

Last Friday, adjustments were made to the Aasandha service for outpatient care. According to the revised policy, patients covered by private insurance will only be eligible for Aasandha once their insurance limit is exhausted or for treatments not covered by their insurance policies.

The alteration has led several private insurance companies to halt cashless services for outpatient care. As a result, hospitals began charging the full cost of services to holders of private insurance policies starting yesterday.

In a press release on Sunday, NSPA stated that individuals who do not have private insurance or are not covered by private insurance for any reason will continue to receive support under the Aasandha scheme. NSPA assured that Aasandha will cover services in instances where patients must pay out of pocket, regardless of the cashless service suspension by insurers.

“In all cases where you are not covered by your own insurance policy and have to pay out of your own pocket, Aasandha will continue to provide coverage as before,” the NSPA statement read.

The agency has also urged the public to reach out to the Aasandha hotline at 1400 for accurate and updated information.
