Aasandha said on Saturday that two hospitals in Bengaluru are no longer providing credit services, and so have stopped accepting Maldivian patients.

Aasandha provides for medical treatment in some hospitals abroad. The largest number of people go for treatment in India and Sri Lanka.

Talking to Atoll Times about the alleged suspension of services under Aasandha in some hospitals in Bengaluru, the company's Managing Director Aminath Zeeniya said on Saturday that Aasandha has stopped referring patients to two hospitals in Bengaluru as they have stopped providing services on credit.

“The two hospitals have stopped providing [services] on credit so we are not sending patients there anymore,” she said.

The two hospitals are:

  • Aster CMI Hospital

  • Cytecare Hospital Pvt Ltd

Zeeniya said the two hospitals had requested for this hiatus, and that it is a temporary decision.

Every month, payments are being made to the hospitals, she said.

"The more patients there are, the higher the payment will be. But we are still paying a certain amount every month”, she explained.

Some media reports claim  that patients are not being sent to these hospitals because of the high debt that caused the cessation of services.

Meanwhile, Manipal Hospital in Bengaluru is not referred to either as their prices are being reviewed, she said.

The following hospitals provide Aasandha in Bengaluru now:

  • The Eye Foundation Super Specialty Eye Hospital

  • Cadabams Hospital Enterprises

  • Sparsh Hospital

  • Sakra World Hospital

  • NU Hospitals (West)

  • NU Hospital (South)

  • Narayana Nethralaya

According to the latest figures released by Aasandha, a total of 265,059 people received treatment through Aasandha in the second quarter of this year, out of which 2,807 people received treatment from Aasandha abroad.
