President ratifies bill to include cybercrimes in Penal Code
Parliament passed the bill early this month.

President Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday ratified a bill to incorporate cybercrime offences into the Penal Code.
Parliament passed the bill early this month.
The offences to be added to the Penal Code include:

Unauthorised access to a computer system.

Unauthorised interference with a computer system to facilitate another offence or otherwise.

Unauthorised interception of computer data.

Misuse of devices.

Acts of cyber violence, including creating images, sounds, or animations resembling individuals or children for blackmail purposes.

Computer-related forgery and fraud.

Infringement of computer-related rights.
The amendments to the Penal Code also include corresponding changes to the Criminal Procedure Code.
