In a response to an altercation that occurred at Male’s Artificial Beach Friday evening, three Indian nationals have been arrested and are set to be deported by Maldivian authorities.
The incident, which unfolded around 8:30 PM, involved a physical altercation between the three men and also saw the assault of a Maldivian citizen who was recording the altercation on his phone.
Immigration Controller Mohamed Shamaan Waheed provided an update on the situation through a post on social media platform 'X', confirming that the three individuals have been transferred to the custody of the Immigration Department.
"The three foreigners arrested in connection with yesterday’s fight have been handed over to Immigration," he said, adding, "They are all being deported."
Shamaan Waheed made it clear that such behavior would not be tolerated, emphasizing that the authorities would not give "any more opportunity to foreigners who commit such acts that endanger the public interest."
This incident follows a similar altercation involving foreign nationals last month, which also took place at Artificial Beach on a Friday evening, a popular day for locals and tourists alike. Reports indicated that a group of Indians was involved in that altercation as well.
