Government on Saturday announced that residents of HDh. Hirimaradhoo will be relocated to HDh. Hanimaadhoo.
Presidential spokesperson Heena Waleed stated that the relocation will involve residents of Hirimaradhoo, which has a population of fewer than 300 people.
According to Heena, the decision was made following a request from the people of Hirimaradhoo. No further details were provided.
The island council had recently consulted the Local Government Ministry regarding the possibility of relocating residents to K. Thulusdhoo.
