The Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast continued heavy rain across parts of the country Wednesday and Thursday, with a risk of flooding.
Rainfall began in various regions Tuesday evening and is expected to persist until 10 April, according to the agency. Officials have advised the public to remain alert to the possibility of flooding due to the ongoing weather conditions.
“It’s been raining heavily for some time now. There is a possibility of flooding during this period,” an official from the Met Office said.
Weather conditions are expected to gradually improve from 11 April. However, occasional showers may continue beyond that date.
According to the forecast, winds are expected to range between 8–18 miles per hour. Strong winds are likely in cloudy areas, and sea conditions are expected to be rough.
