Maldives president meets Saudi crown prince

According to the Saudi Press Agency, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in various areas.

President Mohamed Muizzu met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman on Saturday in Mina, Saudi Arabia, during his visit for Hajj at the invitation of the King of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting took place at the royal palace and was attended by ministers from both countries. According to the Saudi Press Agency, discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in various areas.

Both sides exchanged Eid greetings as part of the meeting. This marks President Muizzu’s first official meeting with a Saudi government official since assuming office.

The Saudi delegation included Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Emir of the Makkah Region; Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Saud, Minister of Sports; Prince Abdulaziz bin Saud, Minister of Interior; Abdullah bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Minister of National Guard; Prince Khalid bin Salman Al Saud, Minister of Defence; and Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Maldivian delegation included Foreign Minister Dr Abdulla Khaleel, Minister of Finance and Planning Moosa Zameer, Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, and Minister of Sports Abdulla Rafiu.

President Muizzu also attended an Eid dinner hosted by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman following the meeting.
