According to Moomin, the commission would have received her medical reports, which should reflect her inability to provide a statement.

Hawwa Yumnu Rasheed, who fell from the ninth floor of a building in Malé onto the roof of an adjacent warehouse, has been discharged from a Malaysian hospital, according to her family. However, they stated she is not in a condition to provide a statement to investigators.

Both the Maldives Police Service and the Presidential Commission of Inquiry have noted that Yumnu's statement has not been obtained. They have said the family did not cooperate with efforts to record her version of events.

The family denies this claim.

The Presidential Commission, established on 27 April following public concern about the incident, submitted its final report to President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on Tuesday without including Yumnu’s statement.

Yumnu was initially treated at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Malé and later transferred to Malaysia in April for further treatment. She was admitted to two different hospitals during her stay there.

Speaking to Atoll Times on behalf of the family, Yumnu’s brother-in-law Moomin Maumoon said she was discharged from hospital a week ago and is still bedridden.

“Her condition is improving, but she is not yet in a state to give a statement,” Moomin said.

He also rejected claims of non-cooperation by the family.

“That is not true. The family has cooperated. However, Yumnu’s medical condition has not allowed for any official questioning,” he said.

According to Moomin, the commission would have received her medical reports, which should reflect her inability to provide a statement.

Police previously stated they were working with Malaysian authorities to obtain Yumnu’s statement. Two officers, including a medical professional, have been stationed in Malaysia since she was transferred for treatment.

The family maintains that police have not made an official request for a statement.
