28 July declared public holiday for 60th Independence Day
This year, the government has designated an additional day to accommodate official events marking the anniversary.

The President’s Office has announced that Monday, 28 July 2025, will be observed as a public holiday in connection with the 60th anniversary of Maldives’ Independence Day.
Independence Day falls on 26 July, and 27 July is also observed annually as a public holiday. This year, the government has designated an additional day to accommodate official events marking the anniversary.

According to the President’s Office, activities commemorating the 60th year of independence will take place across 26, 27, and 28 July.
