Police have blocked multiple Instagram confession pages associated with schools in Malé, citing the spread of false information and cyberbullying content targeting teachers and students.
According to the Maldives Police Service, two pages were shut down last week after being found to contain material that amounted to cyberbullying and misinformation. Confession pages linked to additional 20 schools were being investigated.
Police stated that the number of such cases continues to increase. Authorities also noted that several of the individuals managing or contributing to these pages are school students themselves.
The investigation is ongoing.
