Velana International Airport has initiated the process of signing service agreements with government agencies to enhance the services provided at the airport.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) stated that the first agreement was signed with the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare. The objective is to establish service agreements aimed at improving the services provided by various official agencies operating at the airport.

According to MACL, the initiative is part of a broader effort to align airport services with international operational standards and improve overall efficiency, particularly in preparation for the opening of the new terminal.

MACL further stated that the agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Welfare will support improvements in the import procedures for plants and animals by air. Additional agreements with other agencies are expected to follow.
