Parliament approves Idrees as JSC public member
The Judiciary Committee evaluated candidates for the position and awarded the highest marks to Idrees Fauzi, of Fahivage, Kalaidhoo in Laamu Atoll.

The Parliament on Tuesday approved the appointment of Idrees Fauzi as the public member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
The appointment follows the expiry of the term of Dr Aminath Ummukulsum, who was appointed to the post on 6 August 2020. In accordance with current regulations, a person appointed by the Parliament as a public member of the JSC serves for a term of five years and cannot be re-appointed once the term concludes.
The Judiciary Committee evaluated candidates for the position and awarded the highest marks to Idrees Fauzi, of Fahivage, Kalaidhoo in Laamu Atoll. His name was submitted to the Parliament and approved with the support of 64 out of 67 members present. One member voted against the appointment, while two members did not vote.
