A missile-capable naval vessel donated by Turkey to the Maldives has arrived in Maldivian waters.
Under the Maldives–Turkey military agreement, Turkey has provided the TCG Volcan (P-343), a vessel equipped to launch missiles. A ceremony is scheduled to formally inaugurate the ship.
In preparation for its delivery, Turkey conducted training for Maldivian military personnel assigned to the vessel during April and May.
The TCG Volcan is the first type of vessel in the Turkish Navy to be equipped with Harpoon anti-ship missiles. While previously used for weapons testing and training, the ship will now be operated by the Maldives National Defence Force.
