The Ministry of Education has revised regulations on student transfers between schools, limiting changes to two specific periods during the academic year.
Previously, students were able to transfer at any time. Under the new rules, transfers will only be permitted within set timeframes. State Minister for Education Dr Ahmed Mohamed told PSM that exceptions would be considered in special circumstances.
According to the revised guidelines:

Applications to transfer for the new academic year must be submitted one month before the end of the second term, between 17 May and 15 June.

Applications to transfer for the second term must be submitted one month before the end of the first term, between 18 October and 17 November.
Dr Ahmed said the change was intended to provide greater structure and reduce difficulties faced by students when switching schools mid-year.
The Ministry of Education has also announced new deadlines for student admissions. According to the 2025 academic calendar, the admission period will run from 12 July to 31 August.
