The Maldives Police Service has dismissed officer Aishath Shiaza, who was arrested in July in connection with a drug case.
Shiaza, 31, was arrested along with a man during a joint operation conducted by the Police Drug Enforcement and Intelligence Department. Following the arrest, police reported that three packets of rubber and a pill containing banned substances were recovered from the suspects.
According to a court order issued at the time, both individuals tested positive for cocaine. Police also stated that the drugs were discovered in Shiaza’s bag, which was kept behind a bicycle.
Shiaza was initially suspended from duty pending the outcome of the case. The police disciplinary board has since concluded its inquiry and decided to terminate her employment.
The case remains under investigation.
