The President’s Office has confirmed that its Google account was hacked, resulting in the loss of access to its official YouTube channel.
On Monday night, the channel began broadcasting a live stream promoting cryptocurrency. The channel previously hosted live streams and speeches from official events, including those during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen.
The account also carried the live broadcast of President Mohamed Muizzu’s Monday meeting with the public in M. Muli.
The YouTube channel is no longer accessible. Efforts are under way to recover the hacked Google account linked to the channel.
