Food and beverage outlets in Malé and Villimalé have been closed for failing to meet required hygiene standards.
The Food and Drug Authority (FDA), in collaboration with Malé City Council, is conducting an inspection campaign targeting food service providers.
According to officials, around 25 cafés and restaurants have been shut down as part of the operation. The inspections cover tea houses, cafés, restaurants, takeaways, and other establishments approved by the MFDA, as well as unlicensed outlets.
The City Council stated that notices will be issued to those operating without MFDA authorisation.
The joint operation, which began earlier this week, is scheduled to continue until Thursday. Authorities have indicated that the deadline may be extended depending on the findings.
