A Bangladeshi man arrested in connection with the stabbing of a Nepali saleswoman in a shop in Hulhumale has been ordered to remain in custody pending trial.
The incident occurred on Saturday at the OCC shop in Hulhumale, where a 21-year-old woman from Nepal was injured in the attack.
Police identified the suspect as 25-year-old Jahangir Mia, a Bangladeshi national, who was taken into custody soon after the incident.
Police said on Sunday that the court had ordered Jahangir to remain in custody until the conclusion of his trial.
The injured woman received treatment at hospital and was later discharged, police confirmed. No further details regarding the extent of her injuries were provided.
The investigation into the case is ongoing.
