5,000 daily passengers on RTL buses, ferries
Bus passengers have stayed consistent at an average of 4,100 per day after the fares kicked in.
High-speed ferry in the atolls and mini-bus service in Male in launched under the government's ongoing nationwide Raajje Transport Link (RTL) network, have received good response from the public, data shows.
According to the data provided by service provider MTCC on the request of Atoll Times, the high-speed ferry and the bus service is now being used by an average of around 5,000 people per day.

On an average, 10,000 people in Male used buses every day during the free trial period

More than 100,000 people are expected to use the bus service last month as well

The RTL buses were used by 2,36,954 people in September, 153,682 in October and 128,550 in November

Till October, the RTL ferry service had been launched in three atolls. They are:

Haa Dhaalu atoll

Shaviyani atoll
According to data provided by MTCC, a total of 84,857 passengers travelled by ferry till October. The majority of passengers travelled in Haa Dhaalu atoll:

Haa Dhaalu ferries recorded an average of 10,000 passengers a month

By October end, 45,754 passengers have travelled via RTL ferries in Haa Dhaalu
About 7,000 people are using the RTL ferry service in Haa Alif and Shaviyani atolls every month.

"The company is satisfied with the response to the bus service in the city and the ferries offered in the atolls," said an MTCC official.
"As far as the calculations are concerned, the demand is better than what we had expected. This is a good number as far as the new services are concerned."
MTCC expects the number of people using public transport to increase in the near future.
