Maldives president to visit Qatar to watch World Cup match
President Solih will likely visit Qatar between December 14-18.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has accepted an invitation from Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to watch a FIFA World Cup match and will travel to the country, the President's Office announced Thursday.
In response to a question from Public Service Media (PSM) at his weekly presser, presidential spokesperson Miuvan Mohamed confirmed that the president had accepted the Qatari Emir's invitation.
"But i can't say with full certainty which match he is attending," Miuvan said.
Ooredoo, a Qatari communications service provider in the Maldives, had also invited President Solih in May to visit Qatar to watch a World Cup match.
The World Cup is currently in the final group stage matches.
