President returns after attending World Cup semi-finals in Qatar

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed arrived back in the Maldives on Thursday after concluding their official visit to Qatar.

The president and the first lady visited Qatar at the invitation of the Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

The president and the first lady attended the semi-final matches of the ongoing FIFA World Cup, hosted in Qatar.

"The visit symbolises the Maldives' close bilateral relations with Qatar," a statement issued by the President's Office read.
