A six-year-old boy was injured on Saturday after being hit by a motorcycle driven by an unlicensed motorcyclist in GDh. Thinadhoo, police said.
According to police, the motorcycle was travelling at high speed when it struck the child as he was crossing the road.
The child is currently receiving treatment at Abdul Samad Memorial Hospital.
Police confirmed that the rider did not stop following the collision. The 21-year-old suspect has since been arrested, and the motorcycle involved in the incident has been towed away.
An investigation into the case is ongoing, police said.
