Ibrahim Nasreen, who resigned as Managing Director of Public Service Media (PSM) on Saturday, has been appointed Deputy Minister at the Ministry of Youth.

Nasreen stepped down from his position at PSM after receiving an opportunity to work within a government ministry. He began working at the Youth Ministry on Monday, according to information received.

The ministry currently employs a significant number of political appointees. Former Malé Deputy Mayor Ahmed Nareesh was appointed last year as an advisor to Youth Minister Ibrahim Waheed.

According to the President’s Office website, the ministry has four deputy ministers in addition to Nasreen. The website has not updated political appointments in recent days, and the number may increase.

Nasreen, who has worked at PSM for many years, was appointed Managing Director on 23 December 2024. He is the third person to hold the role under the current administration. Prior to his appointment as MD, he served as PSM’s Head of Sales and Marketing.
