The floor of a residential house in Malé sank on Saturday while construction work was underway at an adjacent site, authorities said.
The incident occurred next to a house under construction on Naseemee Hingun road in Maafannu ward. No injuries were reported.
Malé Mayor Adam Azim visited the area to inspect the affected house after the floor showed signs of subsidence during repair works at the neighbouring property.
Maafannu Central Constituency Member Asma Rasheed also visited the site to assess the condition of the house.
Incidents involving damage to nearby properties are reported from time to time during excavation and construction work in residential areas.
