Maldivian film actor Ahmed Nimal has suffered a stroke and is receiving treatment at ADK Hospital.
According to information shared on Wednesday night, Nimal suffered the stroke earlier in the evening and was admitted to hospital soon after. He is currently being treated in the intensive care unit.
Members of the film industry, along with colleagues and members of the public, have shared messages of support following news of his hospitalisation.
Nimal has worked in the Maldivian film industry as an actor, director and producer. He has also written stories for a number of films and has appeared in several recent productions.
He made his film debut in 1984 with Influence and later appeared in a range of films and music projects. His film credits include Zalzala, Hiy Edhenee, Sababu, Raani, Niuma and Kanbulo.
Nimal has received recognition at the National Film Awards and won a National Award in 1991.
