Govt begins work on school air-conditioning project

The government on Tuesday commenced implementation work under the “Cool School” project to install air-conditioning in all schools across the Maldives.

The project, commissioned by the Ministry of Education, aims to address concerns raised about classroom conditions affecting students and teachers.

Fenaka Corporation said that, under the project, indoor air-conditioning units have already been installed in 75 per cent of schools in the Malé area.

According to Fenaka, the objective is to complete the installation of air-conditioning in all schools before the start of the current academic year.

The corporation said that air-conditioning units will also be installed in schools in the atolls as part of the project. Installation work is currently under way in several schools outside the Malé area.
