President says govt to expand access to education
In a message issued to mark World Education Day, the President said education is central to national development and long-term progress.
President Mohamed Muizzu said on Saturday that the government will work to ensure broad access to education and learning opportunities.

Referring to the government’s education policy, he said the system has been designed to promote equal access and structured learning.
The President said the government has identified education as a priority in its development agenda.
He said that more than 6,000 students have graduated under the first-degree scheme over the past two years. He also said that more than MVR 1 billion has been disbursed in student loans during the same period.
President Muizzu said investment in education and the expansion of learning opportunities would contribute to individual advancement and national development.
He said cooperation across society was required to support development goals.
