Haze has affected areas across the Maldives, with visibility reduced to less than three kilometres, according to the Maldives Meteorological Service.

Maldives Meteorological Service said on Sunday that the haze has been more noticeable in the northern and central parts of the country.

According to the Met Office, the haze is expected to persist over the Maldives for the next five days. The service said the condition is influenced by prevailing northeast winds.

The Met Office has advised the public to exercise caution while outdoors and while travelling at sea during this period.

Haze-related conditions have been reported more frequently since late last year. Last month, air quality levels reached a point where outdoor activities were discouraged.
