A Maldivian woman has been arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a minor, police said on Monday.
Police said the victim in the case is a 15-year-old Maldivian boy. The woman arrested was identified as Fathimath Reema, 35.
According to police, the woman was arrested on 29 December last year. She remains in custody, and her remand period is due to expire on the 28th of this month.
Police said the investigation includes allegations of sexual assault, grooming and exploitation. No further details have been released due to the nature of the case and the age of the victim.
The case remains under investigation.
