President Mohamed Muizzu on Thursday announced changes to the administrative jurisdictions of Addu, following the outcome of a referendum held on 25 October.

The referendum approved a proposal to designate Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo, which were previously within the administrative jurisdiction of Addu, as two separate islands.

Three presidential decrees outlining the changes were published in the Government Gazette on Thursday. The decrees include maps showing the revised jurisdictions of Addu, Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo.

According to the decrees, the boundary between Hulhudhoo and Meedhoo is defined by the road running south of Seenu Atoll School. Residents living south of the road fall under the jurisdiction of Hulhudhoo, while those living to the north are under the jurisdiction of Meedhoo.
