The Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service has started in the Laamu atoll.

The service was launched by Tourism Minister Thorig Ibrahim at a ceremony held in L. Fonadhoo Monday

The service commenced Tuesday and will operate free of charge until the 7th of this month. The period is intended to familiarise users with the ferry schedule, enable travel on the service, and gather feedback for service adjustments.

During the free service period, travellers are advised to contact their respective island councils for information. Tickets can be purchased through the RTL website or the RTL Travel mobile application.

The ferry service will operate six days a week across two routes.

With the introduction of the RTL ferry service in Laamu atoll, the network now covers 15 provinces in the Maldives. The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) stated that work is ongoing under the guidance of the Ministry of Transport to extend the service to the remaining five atolls.
