Nepali man dies after diving incident in Villimalé
A joint search operation was carried out by Villimalé Police and Marine Police.
A 22-year-old Nepali national has died following a diving incident in the Villimalé lagoon, police have confirmed.
According to the Maldives Police Service, a report was received at approximately 6:30am on Wednesday regarding a missing individual who had gone diving in the area.
A joint search operation was carried out by Villimalé Police and Marine Police. The individual was located underwater at around 6:55am.
Police said the man was taken to Villimalé Hospital, where he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.
Authorities said an investigation is ongoing into the circumstances of the incident.
