Leader of the People’s National Congress (PNC) Parliamentary Group, Ibrahim Falah, has denied reports of an internal effort to remove Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majlis, Ahmed Nazim, from his position.

Nazim, who represents the Dhiggaru constituency, was removed from two parliamentary committees earlier this week. Following this, reports emerged suggesting that some members within the PNC were seeking to initiate a no-confidence motion against him.

Speaking to Dhauru, Falah rejected these claims.

“That is false. There are no efforts to remove Nazim from the Deputy Speaker’s position. No such move is currently underway,” he said.

Sources within the party had earlier indicated that some Members of Parliament had raised concerns regarding Nazim’s conduct in the Majlis. According to those accounts, these concerns led to discussions on the possibility of submitting a no-confidence motion.

No formal proposal has been presented to the parliamentary group.
