Fenaka Corporation has signed an agreement to transfer electricity, water, and sewerage services in several atolls to State Electric Company Limited (STELCO).

In a statement issued on Thursday, STELCO said the decision was made by President Mohamed Muizzu as part of changes to the utility sector.

Under the arrangement, services in islands across Baa Atoll, Lhaviyani Atoll, and Meemu Atoll will be transferred from Fenaka to STELCO. The transfer covers 25 islands and includes electricity, water, and sewerage services.

STELCO stated that the move is intended to support service delivery and long-term management of utilities.

Following the transfer, STELCO will provide services to 61 islands. Its coverage now includes the Greater Malé Area, Kaafu Atoll, Alif Alif Atoll, Alif Dhaal Atoll, Vaavu Atoll, as well as Baa, Lhaviyani, and Meemu atolls.

The government has indicated that Fenaka will continue to operate in other regions. The company will remain responsible for utility services across 131 islands.
