Fenaka Corporation has stated that no irregularities occurred in its latest billing cycle after customers reported higher electricity bills following Ramadan.
Fenaka, which provides electricity to many islands across the Maldives, issued the statement on Sunday after households shared recent bills on social media showing charges higher than previous months.
During Ramadan, household electricity bills were capped at MVR 400 under a policy announced by President Mohamed Muizzu. Those bills were prepared using separate meter readings taken for the fasting month.

In its statement, Fenaka said meter readings and billing for the past month were carried out under the same procedures used in other billing periods.
The company said these procedures are governed by existing laws and regulations and that no changes or adjustments were made outside established rules.
Fenaka also said customers who believe there may be discrepancies in their bills can request assistance to verify meter readings and seek clarification.
The company added that electricity consumption typically rises during March, April and May due to seasonal weather conditions, and advised customers to monitor usage.
