The government has appointed former cabinet ministers Adam Shareef Umar and Thoriq Ibrahim, along with former Attorney General Dhiyana Saeed, as Ambassadors-at-Large at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maldives.

The appointments were made on separate dates.

Chief Spokesperson at the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, confirmed that all three had been formally appointed to the positions.

Before these appointments, Adam Shareef served as Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, while Thoriq Ibrahim served as Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy.

Both ministers were among ten cabinet members who resigned on 14 April following a restructuring of government ministries.

The changes came after the government’s proposals in the 4 April referendum and the outcome of the recent local council elections.

Dhiyana Saeed was also involved in the referendum campaign, publicly supporting the proposal to hold presidential and parliamentary elections on the same day.
