President denies video allegations, calls for prosecution

President Mohamed Muizzu has rejected allegations made in a video circulated online, describing the claims as false and calling for legal action against those involved in spreading them.
The remarks were made during a press conference at the President’s Office on Monday.
The issue relates to a video released by local outlet Adhadhu in which an unidentified woman made allegations concerning the President’s personal conduct.
Asked about the matter during the press conference, President Muizzu said the claims were untrue.
“It is an absolute lie,” he said.
Referring to the publication of the video, the President said he had requested relevant authorities to take action against those responsible for disseminating false information.
“I request all relevant authorities to prosecute all parties who have spread such falsehoods,” he said.
This was the first public response from the President since the video was released about one month ago.
