Man dies in bridge highway accident

Police received reports at 2.30pm about a car colliding with a motorcycle in the area.

One person has been killed in a road accident that took place Friday afternoon at the junction leading to the airport island of Hulhule and the satellite town of Hulhumale via the Sinamale Bridge.

Police received reports at 2.30pm about a car colliding with a motorcycle in the area. A 52-year-old local man was killed in the incident, police said.

In a message to the media, the police said:

The victim was rushed to Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumale for further treatment
According to hospital sources, the man succumbed to his injuries

Without divulging further details, the police said they are investigating the matter further.
