A foreign national who sustained burns in a fire involving five vehicles at a petrol station and harbour area in F. Feeali has died after receiving treatment for about a month.
Police said the man died on Monday from injuries sustained in the incident, which occurred on 9 April. According to police, his body was repatriated the following day.
Authorities did not disclose the nationality of the deceased.
Police said the fire first broke out at a petrol station and an oil vessel that was preparing to refuel. The foreign national, who was on the oil vessel, suffered burn injuries in the incident.
He was initially treated at the island’s health centre before being transferred for further treatment.
The fire later spread from the petrol station and oil vessel to other boats docked in the harbour area.
