Services previously provided at Dhamanaveshi have been temporarily relocated to the Urban Primary Healthcare Centre in Maafannu, Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) announced on Monday.

According to IGMH, the services began operating from the healthcare centre, located opposite Rasfannu Beach, from Monday.

Dhamanaveshi has remained closed since May 21. Following the closure, its 35 staff members were temporarily reassigned to various health facilities in Malé and Hulhumalé.

IGMH stated that the relocation is a temporary arrangement while renovation work is carried out at the Dhamanaveshi building.

It is understood that the closure forms part of plans to integrate Dhamanaveshi with the adjacent former Thalassaemia Centre and establish a single healthcare facility.

Dhamanaveshi provides a range of public health services and is regularly used by residents for vaccinations and child growth monitoring.

The facility also offers family planning services, counselling and mental health support.

IGMH has advised the public that all services previously available at Dhamanaveshi can now be accessed through the Urban Primary Healthcare Centre until further notice.

No timeline has been announced for the completion of the renovation work or the reopening of the original facility.
