The Local Government Authority (LGA) will hold a meeting on Thursday to address the dispute between the Ministry of Housing and the Malé City Council.
The meeting follows a request by the council for the LGA to mediate after efforts to resolve the issues directly with the ministry did not produce a response.
Malé City Mayor Adam Azim said he received letters from the LGA on Tuesday, about a month after seeking the authority's assistance. He said the LGA had scheduled a meeting with the relevant institutions for tomorrow at 11:00 p.m.
The council requested the LGA's intervention, stating that the ministry had not responded to repeated requests for consultation meetings.
According to the council, the issues include:

The ministry has not responded to requests for clarification on legal matters relating to the local market and fish market project planned under the government's decision.

The Housing Ministry has stated that the council is refusing to hand over land required for the project and is not cooperating with the ministry.

The council says it has not been consulted on development plans for Malé City and has received no response regarding related matters.

Despite repeated requests for meetings, the ministry did not respond to the council's letters or hold discussions.
