President says national advisory council to include up to 150 experts

President Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the National Advisory Council being established to advise the President will comprise between 100 and 150 experts from various fields and is expected to be formed by November.

Providing further details during an appearance on Public Service Media's (PSM) Nation Chat programme on Friday, the President said two separate advisory bodies would be created: a smaller advisory council and a larger national council.
According to the President, the smaller advisory council will consist of individuals who have served the country in senior state positions over many years. Members of the council will provide advice when requested by the President and may also submit recommendations on their own initiative.
The larger body, to be known as the National Advisory Council, will comprise technical experts and professionals from a range of sectors. The President said its membership is expected to be between 100 and 150 people.
President Muizzu said the purpose of establishing the larger council is to bring together professionals with knowledge and experience from across the country to discuss national issues and propose solutions.
He expressed hope that the administrative work required to establish both councils would be completed within the next three months.
"I hope that the administrative work required to finalise and establish such a body will be completed within three months at most. Thus, the expectation is that these two councils will be established by this coming November," the President said.
