Quay wall near police headquarters reserved for military vessels
The waterfront forms part of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project.
The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced that the newly developed quay wall along Boduthakurufaanu Magu in front of the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building will be reserved exclusively for military vessels.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the ministry said the quay wall extending from the Shaheed Hussain Adam Building, which houses the Maldives Police Service headquarters, to the Dhoshimeyna Building has been designated for the use of the Ministry of Defence.
The ministry said the restriction took effect on Tuesday.
Under the new arrangement, vessels not operated by the Ministry of Defence are prohibited from berthing or docking along this section of the quay wall.
The waterfront forms part of the Boduthakurufaanu Magu redevelopment project.
The 700-metre section, extending from the Henveiru Ferry Terminal area to the Official Jetty, was opened to the public on 24 July.
