The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has decided to appoint three judges to the Criminal Court, according to sources familiar with the matter.

The JSC opened applications in July to fill three vacancies on the Criminal Court bench, with 29 people applying for the positions.

Sources confirmed to Dhauru that the commission finalised the three candidates for appointment during a meeting held on Sunday night.

Those selected are Ahmed Thaufeeq of Daisiymaage, HA. Dhidhdhoo; Sulaiman Mohamed of Nooraaneegee, Lh. Kurendhoo; and Mohamed Abdulla of Dream, Th. Veymandoo.

The appointments will fill the three vacancies for which the JSC sought applications last month.

While the commission has decided on the appointments, the JSC has yet to issue an announcement confirming the names of the three judges.
