President launches ‘Rayyithunge Adu’ initiative for direct public meetings

President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has launched a series of one-on-one meetings with members of the public under a new initiative titled Rayyithunge Adu (Voice of the People).

The President’s Office announced the programme on Thursday and released videos showing some of the meetings held as part of the initiative, which is intended to provide citizens with an opportunity to meet directly with the President and raise issues affecting them.

According to information shared by the President’s Office, around nine individuals participated in the initial meetings. Many of the concerns raised related to housing, including issues concerning flats and land plots.

During the discussions, President Muizzu listened to the concerns presented by participants and said the government would examine the matters raised and determine what assistance could be provided.

The initiative is open to residents from all 93 constituencies across the Maldives.

Individuals interested in meeting the President may register through a dedicated portal on the President’s Office website.

According to the President’s Office, registration for the third round of meetings will remain open until midnight on 17 August.

The initiative forms part of the administration’s public engagement efforts, allowing citizens to raise concerns directly with the President and seek government assistance on matters affecting their lives.
