The Maldives Hajj Corporation has announced higher prices for its Ramadan Umrah packages for the upcoming pilgrimage season.

According to the corporation, two Umrah packages will be offered during Ramadan, which is expected to begin in February next year.

The packages announced are:

  • Full Ramadan Umrah package, including the six days of Shawwal: MVR 55,965

  • Last 15 days of Ramadan package, including the six days of Shawwal: MVR 50,965

The corporation said participants must complete payments by 19 December.

The new rates represent an increase compared with the most recent Ramadan Umrah programme.

The full Ramadan package was previously priced at MVR 48,965, while the package covering the final 15 days of Ramadan was priced at MVR 45,965.

The latest prices therefore reflect increases of MVR 7,000 and MVR 5,000 respectively.

Hajj Corporation Managing Director Mohamed Firuzul Abdulla said Umrah package prices vary from year to year and are influenced by accommodation costs in Saudi Arabia.

“Hotel prices are higher this time around compared to before. That is why the price of Umrah has increased as well,” Firuzul said.

He added that private operators organising Umrah trips are also likely to charge higher rates for the upcoming season.

According to the corporation, the packages include accommodation in Makkah and Madinah, travel on the Haramain High-Speed Railway and the opportunity to perform multiple Umrahs during the stay.

The corporation stated that participants under the packages would be able to perform more than three Umrahs during the pilgrimage period.

Registration and payment arrangements for the programme are now open ahead of the December deadline.
