Hajj Corporation to launch direct Umrah flights from Addu during Ramadan 2027
According to the corporation, the expansion has been made possible by the introduction of wide-body aircraft operations by Maldivian.
Maldives Hajj Corporation has announced plans to operate direct Umrah flights from Addu to Saudi Arabia during Ramadan next year, with the first departure scheduled for 20 February 2027.
The state-owned corporation said the service would allow residents of Addu and the southern atolls to travel for Umrah without having to transit through Malé.
Direct Umrah flights from Addu were first introduced in July 2026 through a partnership between private Umrah operator Travellers Maldives and the national airline, Maldivian.
Hajj Corporation said its decision to introduce the service was intended to improve travel arrangements for pilgrims from the southern regions of the Maldives.
The flight, arranged for pilgrims undertaking Umrah during the final 15 days of Ramadan, is scheduled to depart from Gan International Airport on 20 February 2027 and travel directly to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The corporation has announced two Ramadan Umrah packages. The package covering the final 15 days of Ramadan is priced at MVR 48,965, while the package covering the entire month of Ramadan costs MVR 54,965.
Hajj Corporation said it intends to establish regular direct Umrah services from Addu in July, December and Ramadan in the coming years.
According to the corporation, the expansion has been made possible by the introduction of wide-body aircraft operations by Maldivian.
The corporation said the service would provide a more convenient travel option for residents of the southern atolls by removing the need to travel to Malé before departing for Saudi Arabia.
Bookings are now open for those wishing to participate in the Ramadan Umrah programmes. Places can be reserved through Hajj Corporation's online portal, Faheli, or its official website.
The corporation said its Umrah packages include medical services provided by Maldivian doctors and nurses, pharmacy services and free vaccinations.
The packages also provide high-speed rail transport to Madinah, a three-night stay in the city, Maldivian meals, laundry and ironing services, and religious guidance from Islamic scholars.
Additional services include an Umrah kit, buggy transport and location-tracking devices.
Hajj Corporation said it would continue prioritising the quality of services provided to Hajj and Umrah pilgrims, with the aim of improving their travel arrangements and overall experience.
