Police have arrested a 28-year-old Maldivian man on suspicion of sexually abusing his three-year-old child and recording the alleged abuse.
Police said the case was reported from an island within the South Central Police region.
The South Central Police region covers Meemu, Faafu, Dhaalu, Thaa and Laamu atolls. Police have not disclosed the island where the alleged incident occurred.
The suspect, who is the father of the child, was arrested on Sunday under a court warrant.
Police have not disclosed the man's identity or other personal information because the case involves a minor.
